Rafts are used when soil conditions are not good , e.g. clay or collapsible soil.

Raft foundations create a stable and strong option for both commercial and residential building projects.

Beams are vertically installed, with stiffener ribs at a maximum of 1,800mm and this constricts separate movement, ensuring the whole system is bound together as one unit.

Additionally, the surface bed is cast with the ground beam, which further bonds the system together.

A platform is created and then compaction takes place – this occurs from the cutting and fill stage, allowing for better compaction.

More reinforcing is included in the design of raft foundation, in order to achieve the strength and wider spans required. (1,800mm).

This does render the system a bit more expensive than ordinary foundation systems, however, the system is stronger and also allows for time saving in construction.

Please take note that we only use 10ton rollers and not little wackers for compaction. Tlbs and dingos are used for the ground beams.

All shuttering is done with in 2cm of any thing, if it kicks or is slightly out of plumb, we will correct it at our cost.
